My Story
After years of working as a modern oboist, Esther decided to broaden her sound world with the historical oboe’s.
Even though it remains an oboe, the switch required learning some new techniques (fingerings, different ways of reed making...)
Playing on historical oboe’s allowed her to learn playing with less tension, more articulation and a closer connection to the breath. It appears to be a true liberation and revelation.
Through the sound of the historical oboes she found a direct connection with the music and its historical context.
With a refined, singing tone, Esther captivates audiences through interpretations that balance scholarly insight with emotional immediacy.
Whether in intimate chamber settings or orchestral roles, Esther reveals the historical oboe’s unique capacity for drama, tenderness, and brilliance.
